BabelFish™ Treemap

A compact graphical presentation of large amounts of complex data

Data mining exposes hidden patterns in large and complex databases. The treemap is a way of visualising relationships between large amounts of data, and allows patterns to be more easily identified with a view to maximising operational and production efficacy.

Treemaps are designed to assist in identifying patterns and exceptions in a space-constrained environment, such as computer monitors. BabelFish TreeMap is a BabelFish Portal page object used to display entities in a graphical form as coloured palette of rectangular boxes or cells, so that data discrepancies may be found and comparisons made easily. The colour and size of the boxes changes based on process variables.

BabelFish TreeMap is particularly useful for operations personnel involved with day-to-day data monitoring and reporting. For example, a group of wells may vary in size based on normal flow rate, and vary in colour based on downtime. A red cell displaying high flow rate with high downtime brings attention to areas of poor performance. Each cell is also linked to further details regarding the entity.

Key Features

The BabelFish TreeMap allows you to:

  • Configure the display to show only those entities that are required to reduce redundant data and unneeded information.
  • Specify limited to include only data within a specified range.
  • Easily identify data values by simple colour schemes, allowing you to quickly identify data discrepancies.
  • Further quantify or validate entity data by using entity specific renderers and other BabelFish tools.
  • Export data into numerical format to investigate further detail.
  • Group data to separate non-related entities.
