BabelFish Foundation Server : comprising the following major components
- BabelFish Portal : the web-enabled visualisation component that provides a single view of all relevant data, irrespective of the source of the data
BabelFish Data Dictionary : describes the relationship between entities (tags) and groups information in a logical hierarchical structure so that you see a complete picture of an asset.
BabelFish Calculation Engine : provides advanced calculation functionality that allows users to combine existing data, and derive new entities that aid in analysing existing data.
BabelFish Analysis Toolkit : delivers the ability to create detailed exception reports from data sources connected to BabelFish.
BabelFish Aspect : allows Geospatial data integration from a variety of geographic information systems and data sources with applications that have no geographic content, providing access to real time information via a web enabled map interface.
BabelFish Capture : a low cost historian for capturing and storing time-series data from process measurement and control equipment. A powerful solution that meets the business need for a centralised, easy to deploy, standardised historian database.
BabelFish Reconcile : used to model and store data from plant and production facilities. It provides reports via a web based application according to a set of pre defined calculations.
BabelFish Sentinel : Supercharged real-time event monitoring for operational excellence.
BabelFish Verify : an interface for operations personnel to collect, validate and approve operational data before it is distributed to the production reporting, allocation and accounting systems.
Connecting to Your Enterprise with ISS Group Adaptors and Business Connectors
BabelFish can seamlessly retrieve data from a wide range of data sources via the use of adaptors. Adaptors provide connectivity to multiple sources of disparate data within an organisation via a single Portal view. The connection definitions are stored within the Data Dictionary. BabelFish understands the different types of data that exist and does not need to duplicate information. Therefore BabelFish does not replicate and store data, it simply displays it from the source system when an application requests it. The adaptors provide the connections to source systems such as PI, PHD, IP21, Oracle, MS SQL and BabelFish.
ISS has developed a portfolio of business connectors to offer clients affordable integration with existing business planning and logistics systems. BabelFish Business Connectors provide data rich integration across the enterprise, promoting interoperability and maintaining healthy IT assets. The ability to link directly to operational intelligence, key corporate and management indicators and process control systems makes BabelFish a vital asset to an organisation. Business Connectors allows for connection between BabelFish and systems such a Microsoft BizTalk, SAP , JD Edwards, Maximo and Schlumberger Avocet.
