BabelFish™ Adaptors
Adaptors provide connectivity to multiple sources of disparate data distributed across the enterprise in a single Portal view.
ISS Group Adaptors provide connections to data from disparate sources within an organisation. The Adaptors provide the connection between the source system such as PI, PHD, IP21, Oracle, MS SQL and BabelFish™. The connection definitions are stored within the Data Dictionary. Furthermore, BabelFish understands the different types of data that exist within an organisation, and does not need to duplicate information in a central database.
Typically, organisations maintain a number of different systems for managing data such as:

· Drawing systems
· Enterprise Resource Planning Systems

· Legacy Databases

The BabelFish Data Dictionary defines all data connected to the integration layer. As a new data source is connected to BabelFish the Data Dictionary updates itself. BabelFish does not store any data, it simply displays it from the source system when an application requests it.
